Translations and Desktop Publishing

We provide a comprehensive English <=> German translation service for all your language needs. We are experienced in dealing with large-scale projects, working to tight deadlines while never compromising on quality. Our translators are accredited in Australia and can provide ITI certification for the United Kingdom. We are familiar with the requirements of DIN 2345 (Translations).

Most translations are done on our premises by Claudia Koch-McQuillan, a highly qualified native German speaker with 20 years' experience in translating and interpreting. Claudia specialises in the fields of English <=> German legal, medical and technical translations and has worked on a wide scope of projects for clients including the Australian Attorney-General's Department, the Australian Securities & Investment Commission, Konica Minolta Australia Pty Ltd, Canon Inc., PassMark Software and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Our expertise includes materials such as commercial contracts, patent applications, technical manuals, technical training CD-ROMs, legal correspondence, expert medical reports, medical handbooks, investor information and software localisation. Any material that exceeds our in-house scope of abilities will be referred to suitably qualified external translators, always ensuring quality, confidentiality and timeliness of the translation delivered to you. This allows us to offer you a comprehensive service for all types of materials and purposes.

Quality Management Tools

We are committed to delivering German <=> English translations of a quality that leaves nothing to be desired. For this purpose we use the latest reference materials and translation tools, both electronic and traditional, and continuously keep up to date with linguistic developments.

We work with computer-assisted translation (CAT) software for terminology management to ensure consistency of terminology within and across documents. CAT software generates databases of source and target terminology used within projects and allows prompt retrieval of previously used terminology. Glossaries generated by the translator or provided by the client in various formats can easily be implemented. Extensive quality management features ensure that output is consistently of the highest quality.

We have successfully localised several software packages, including menu items and help files. Again, we use dedicated software to edit your menus and strings, ensuring consistency of terminology used. There is no need to copy and paste translated text from a word processing package across to your application and hence no risk of errors being introduced during transfer.

CAT software also ensures that any tags, jumps or links contained in HTML documents are maintained. This allows us to offer a localisation service for your web pages. For further information please click the Localisation link below.

We also offer a destop publishing service and therefore can deliver material that looks exactly the way you want it to. There is no need to transfer material from the translator to the desktop publisher, resulting in time savings for you and eliminating a major source of errors. We will translate your materials, typeset them (including artwork) and proofread the final copy ready for printing. Most popular DTP applications are supported.
